Full job description

Overview

We are seeking a friendly and efficient Cafe Assistant to join our team. This role involves providing excellent customer service, preparing food and beverages, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. The ideal candidate will be passionate about delivering a positive experience to our customers and possess a keen eye for detail. Previous experience in a café or food service environment is essential.

Must have at least 3 years experience in a similar cafe/pub role cooking and serving

Hours are 24 per week. Will include Friday & Saturday between the hours of 9am-3:30 pm

Duties

Prepare a variety of hot and cold beverages, including coffee and tea, adhering to quality standards
Serve food items efficiently while maintaining high hygiene standards
Handle cash transactions and operate the POS system with basic maths skills
Maintain cleanliness of workstations, dining areas, and equipment in accordance with food safety regulations
Restock supplies as needed to ensure smooth operation during shifts
Assist with food preparation tasks such as assembling sandwiches or salads when required
Manage time effectively to serve customers promptly during busy periods
Follow health and safety guidelines diligently to ensure a safe environment for staff and customers

Requirements

Knowledge of food safety standards and practices is desirable
Food hygiene certification
Ability to perform basic maths accurately for cash handling and transactions
Friendly demeanour with good communication skills
Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
Flexibility to work during peak hours, including weekends if necessary
A proactive attitude towards learning new skills related to food preparation and customer service

Pay: £12.71-£13.71 per hour
