Technical Manager – Aerospace Gas Turbine Engineering Services
Role Summary
We are seeking a domain experienced Technical Manager to lead and develop a multi-disciplinary aerospace engineering team supporting commercial gas turbine products and aftermarket services. The role covers mechanical product design, stress and analysis activities, repair engineering, and MRO technical support across a broad range of engine hardware and customer programmes.
The Technical Manager will provide technical leadership, delivery oversight, and capability development across engineering execution teams while supporting business growth, quality improvement, operational excellence, and customer engagement activities.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Delivery Support

Provide technical leadership across mechanical product design, analysis, repair engineering, and aftermarket engineering activities.

Provide technical oversight for delivery teams in execution of complex engineering work packages across commercial gas turbine programmes.

Guide resolution of technical issues, non-conformance, and engineering escalations.

Ensure engineering outputs meet customer, regulatory, airworthiness, and internal quality requirements.

Support prioritisation and balancing of engineering resources across multiple programmes and customers.
Capability & Team Development

Build and develop engineering capability across product design, analysis, repair engineering, and technical leadership disciplines.

Mentor engineers at graduate, developing, and senior levels.

Drive competency development plans aligned to future programme and customer requirements.

Support succession planning and technical career development pathways.

Promote best practices in engineering processes, technical review, and problem-solving methodologies.

Help establish a high-performance technical culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Quality & Governance

Ensure compliance with engineering processes, customer procedures, and aerospace standards.

Drive robust technical review and checking practices.

Support root cause investigations and corrective actions related to technical quality concerns.

Promote lessons learned capture and standardisation of engineering best practices.

Support audit readiness and customer quality reviews.
Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement

Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives focused on delivery performance, engineering productivity, quality improvement, standard work development, tool and process optimisation, and the reduction of rework and technical escapes

Identify opportunities for automation, digitalisation, and improved engineering workflows.
Customer & Business Support

Act as a technical focal point for customers, programme stakeholders, and internal leadership.

Support customer meetings, technical reviews, and programme governance activities.

Contribute to business development, bid support, and proposal generation activities.

Support estimation of engineering effort, technical risk, schedules, and resource requirements.

Assist development of differentiated technical solutions and value-added service offerings.

Support growth opportunities within design engineering, repair engineering, and MRO services.
Required Experience

Significant experience within aerospace gas turbine engineering environments.

Strong background in one or more of the following:

Mechanical product design

Structural/stress analysis

Repair engineering

Aftermarket and MRO engineering support

Experience leading engineering teams and technical work packages.

Strong understanding of aerospace engineering processes, quality requirements, and technical governance.

Experience supporting customer-facing engineering activities.

Ability to manage competing priorities across multiple programmes and stakeholders.
