Full job description

Manufacturing / Production Operative (Magnesium) - Fixed Term Contract (12 months)

Luxfer MEL Technologies is a global leader in the development, manufacture and supply of Magnesium and Zirconium based products and services to technology industries worldwide. We have approximately 300 employees across the UK & US.

The Role – Manufacturing / Production Operative (Billet Prep)

Using manual lathes, bandsaws
Target focused, must hit output quota
Operating process equipment and machinery, including semi and fully automated machinery
Monitoring processes and recording parameters for production records, log sheets and SAP transactions
Communicating current status to other operators and departments
Performing in house tests/analysis to ensure product is produced in line with specifications
Packing of finished goods into drums, bags, onto pallets or other forms of container for transportation
Aiding in the investigation and identifying the root cause of out of spec product and / or production issues

What you’ll need to be considered for this Manufacturing Operative role:

Experience working in an industrial or manufacturing environment
Must have experience on manual lathes or saws - Preferably qualified machinist
FLT licence
5x GCSE’s (Incl. Eng, Maths) – A-C
Post school education (NVQ level 3 or equivalent in relevant subject)
Achieved a minimum Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject such as Engineering, Science, Manufacturing etc.
Ability to use own initiative, prioritise tasks, and work under pressure
Safety conscious and have a high level of attention to detail
Professional approach to work and a team player

Must have a valid forklift truck licence. A Pendant crane qualification would also be advantageous.

As Manufacturing Operative, you will benefit from:

You’ll be employed on a fixed term contract working one of the site shift patterns. Flexibility will be required due to the nature of the role. You’ll be working from our head office in Swinton, Greater Manchester.
