Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sous Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive kitchen experience, and a passion for delivering exceptional food quality. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will assist the Head Chef in managing daily operations, supervising staff, and ensuring the highest standards of food safety and presentation are maintained. This role offers an excellent opportunity for career progression within a vibrant hospitality environment.

The role has a base salary of £35,750 plus inclusion in company bonus scheme and share of venue tips.

Responsibilities

Assist the Head Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations and ensuring smooth workflow
Supervise and manage kitchen staff, including training and mentoring team members
Prepare and cook a variety of dishes in accordance with established recipes and standards
Device and produce daily/weekly speciality dishes.
Ensure all food production meets quality, safety, and hygiene standards
Monitor stock levels, order supplies, and manage inventory efficiently
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area in compliance with health and safety regulations
Collaborate with front-of-house staff to deliver excellent service experiences for guests
Contribute to menu development and innovation based on current culinary trends
Enforce food safety protocols and ensure all team members adhere to hygiene standards

Requirements

Proven supervising experience within a professional kitchen environment
Extensive culinary experience with strong skills in food preparation and cooking techniques
Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene management
Demonstrated leadership abilities with effective team management skills
Previous restaurant or hospitality experience is highly desirable
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced setting
Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members and management
Passion for delivering high-quality food and exceptional customer service
