Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Care Manager specialising in Homecare services. The successful candidate will oversee the delivery of high-quality care to clients in their own homes, ensuring personalised support that promotes independence and well-being. This role requires strong leadership, organisational skills, and a compassionate approach to senior care, including dementia and Alzheimer's care. The Care Manager will coordinate care plans, supervise staff, and maintain compliance with relevant regulations to deliver exceptional homecare services.

Job Purpose

To oversee the safe, effective, and person-centred delivery of domiciliary/home care services to service users living in the community. The Care Manager is responsible for ensuring high standards of care, staff supervision, compliance with CQC regulations, care planning, safeguarding, and maintaining excellent communication with service users, families, healthcare professionals, and staff.

Main Duties and Responsibilities1. Care Delivery and Quality Assurance

Ensure all service users receive safe, high-quality, person-centred care.
Monitor and review care packages regularly.
Conduct care assessments and risk assessments.
Develop, implement, and review care plans.
Ensure care is delivered in line with individual needs, preferences, dignity, and independence.
Carry out spot checks, competency checks, and service user reviews.
Investigate complaints, incidents, accidents, and concerns appropriately.
Ensure medication procedures are followed safely.
Monitor safeguarding concerns and escalate where required.
Promote infection prevention and control standards.

2. Staff Management and Supervision

Recruit, interview, and support care staff.
Conduct inductions, supervisions, appraisals, and probation reviews.
Monitor staff performance and attendance.
Address poor performance, disciplinary issues, and conduct concerns.
Ensure staff receive appropriate training and refreshers.
Provide leadership, guidance, and support to the care team.
Promote teamwork and professional conduct.
Ensure staff maintain accurate documentation and care records.

3. Compliance and Regulation

Ensure compliance with:
CQC Fundamental Standards
Health and Social Care Act Regulations
Company policies and procedures
Safeguarding legislation
Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS)
Health and Safety legislation
GDPR and confidentiality requirements
Maintain accurate records and audit systems.
Participate in inspections and audits.
Ensure incidents are documented and reported correctly.
Monitor care documentation quality and accuracy.

4. Communication and Liaison

Maintain effective communication with:
Service users
Families and next of kin
Social workers
District nurses
GPs
Occupational therapists
Local authorities
Safeguarding teams
Attend multidisciplinary meetings where required.
Respond professionally to concerns and complaints.
Ensure service users and families are kept informed appropriately.

5. Scheduling and Operational Oversight

Support rota management and care scheduling where required.
Ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained.
Monitor call times, missed calls, and continuity of care.
Ensure emergency cover arrangements are in place.
Support out-of-hours management when necessary.

6. Safeguarding Responsibilities

Recognise and respond to safeguarding concerns.
Ensure all safeguarding concerns are reported promptly.
Protect service users from abuse, neglect, discrimination, and poor practice.
Promote dignity, choice, respect, and independence at all times.

Person SpecificationEssential Requirements

Experience within domiciliary/home care services.
Supervisory or management experience in health and social care.
Good understanding of CQC regulations and standards.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Ability to manage staff performance and conduct.
Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
Competent in care planning and risk assessment.
Ability to work under pressure and prioritise workload.
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

QualificationsEssential

NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care (minimum)

Desirable

NVQ/QCF Level 5 in Leadership for Health and Social Care
