Job Description - Senior RSW

(Min of 7.5 shifts/147.75 hours p/month on rota incl. weekends/evenings/sleep overs + Bank Holidays)

Must hold Diploma Level 3 in Health & social care with children and young people in residential.

Must hold a full UK driving license.

Position reports to: Deputy Manager, Registered Manager & Area Manager

Main purpose of the role: Assisting the Manager and team in providing care and support to the Young People in our care. To ensure Safeguarding is prioritised and the welfare of the young people is at the centre of the applied company policies and procedures. Ensuring at all times that the Ethos of the Statement of purpose is applied.

In addition to the Senior RSW role, main duties include:

To work within the guidelines of child protection and safeguarding reporting concerns.
To chair in house meetings as required.
To develop and promote plans to ensure young people are enjoying and achieving this includes education and leisure plans appropriate to each young person, proactively driving and engaging activities that promote social interaction and social development of each young person. To put forward ideas for Care Plan developments to senior staff and to monitor and maintain records recording positive outcomes and mentoring new staff in this process.
To strive to promote the social, emotional, and physical welfare of the young people in our care, adhering to care plans and to provide a high level of person-centred care for each young person whilst seeking input from young people and colleagues in decision making where appropriate.
To ensure young people have positive overall experiences whilst living at the home.
To complete monitoring reports including Reg 45 monthly inspection reports and contribute to the 6 monthly Reg 45 as required.
To ensure exemplary communication is maintained – written reports, logs, and verbal communication. Ensure completed accurately and within the timelines of procedure and the Quality Standards and legislation required.
To promote positive working relations with all internal and external partners/contacts including but not limited to: Colleagues, Managers, Ofsted, school staff, police, medical practitioners, counsellors, therapists, social workers, and family members. Ensuring appropriate communications which are mindful of confidentiality and data protection legislation.
To work with therapists and promote good therapeutic practice within the home. Embed the Marc model and Pace into the care that is delivered in the home. Have knowledge and understanding of what a trauma informed service is and how we support our young people.
Demonstrate competent practice when admitting and discharging a new young person into/out of a home, completing all process requirements and paperwork including registration with necessary external professionals (opticians/GPs and Other). Updating the Placement Package regularly to meet developing needs, communicating the Education Care and Health Plan (ECH) ensuring these too are appropriate, communicated and understood.
Practice restorative methodologies with young person and colleagues alike ensuring best working relationships and a positive professional environment at all times. Continuously seek out solutions and identify potential conflict to minimise escalation.
To work collaboratively and cooperate willingly to ensure optimum delivery of day-to-day care. Working flexibly to meet changing needs of the business including providing cover as and when required. To assist Managers and others to ensure all duties and responsibilities are fulfilled in line with policy and procedure guidelines and in line with objectives of individual placement packages and care plans.
In absence of senior colleagues to take on additional duties as required including any tasks as set out by Deputy Manager/Registered Manager.
To attend training and implement into practice.
Oversight and auditing clearcare including completing approvals, where required to do so.
To Maintain confidentiality and GDPR at all times; you will have access to sensitive information about young people and Meadows Employees.
To mentor and lead by example, sharing skills as a matter of daily activity to develop Residential Support Workers (RSWs).
To ensure you fully understand and advocate best practice in Meadows Care policies and procedures as set out in tri-x:
Demonstrate the ability to complete a staffing rota that meets the needs of the home. managing staff hours in the process, which reflect the staff time sheets.
To ensure all reg 44 and quality assurance monitoring reports are accurately completed within the scheduled timescales and complete updates to relevant documentation.
Demonstrate knowledge of the home staff and young people during Ofsted and regulation inspections.
Assist in the recruitment process of staff as the need arises.
To complete on calls for the company and provide advice and support to colleagues outside of office hours, including weekends, bank holidays etc. Sharing relevant information meeting GDPR.
To ensure the home is warm, welcoming and nurturing for young people, the team, and visitors. Maintaining the reputation of the standard of our homes.
To have knowledge and understanding of current legislation

Managing Others:

To carry out supervisions with Residential Support Workers in line with procedures, ensuring workforce plans are enforced.
To ensure that all staff/keyworker roles are completed.
To assist in the completion of interviews, onboarding and inductions of new staff.
Ensure return to work interviews are completed with RSW’s following a period of absence and sickness.
