Full job description

An exciting career opportunity has arisen for a Fixed Term Senior Sous Chef to join our kitchen team at Moddershall Oaks Country Spa Retreat, where we are passionate about creating dishes that excite, inspire and delight our guests.

As second in command to the Head Chef, you will play a vital role in both the culinary and operational success of the kitchen. From overseeing sections and managing service, to supporting menu development and bringing creativity to new dishes, this role gives you the chance to showcase your skills and step up as a leader.

Alongside your hands-on cooking, you will also take on important administrative and commercial responsibilities. These include:

Supporting with stock management and supplier ordering.
Monitoring portion control, waste reduction, and kitchen efficiency.
Assisting with menu planning and dish costings to maintain profitability.
Keeping accurate records for food hygiene, health & safety, and compliance.
Helping with staff rotas, training plans, and mentoring junior chefs.

You’ll lead by example, motivating the team to deliver consistency, creativity and excellence, while ensuring the kitchen runs smoothly day to day.

Applicants should have proven experience at Sous Chef level or above in a busy, high-quality kitchen environment, with excellent organisational skills, strong cost awareness, and a passion for delivering outstanding food.

Employment Term: Fixed Term until 31st December 2026
Hours: Minimum 45 hours per week
Days/Shifts: 5 days over 7, including evenings and weekends
Salary: To be discussed based upon experience. Plus tronc
