Award-Winning Boutique Tearoom | Luxury Afternoon Tea Experience

We are a proud, family-run, award-winning boutique tearoom, famous for our elegant afternoon teas, handcrafted cakes, and beautifully presented dishes. We are looking for a reliable, talented, and enthusiastic Sous Chef to support our Head Chef and play a key role in our kitchen team.

This is a hands-on role for someone who loves working in a busy, collaborative environment, takes pride in quality and presentation, and wants to help deliver exceptional experiences to our guests.

About the Role

As Sous Chef, you will assist the Head Chef in running the kitchen smoothly. You’ll support menu preparation, supervise junior staff, and ensure every dish leaving the kitchen meets the high standards our tearoom is known for. You’ll also get the opportunity to develop your skills, take responsibility, and contribute creatively to our seasonal offerings.

Key Responsibilities

Assist the Head Chef in the preparation and production of all dishes
Supervise and support junior kitchen staff, including training and guidance
Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency
Ensure all food hygiene, safety, and cleanliness standards are strictly followed
Help manage stock levels, storage, and basic ordering
Assist with menu planning and seasonal specials
Support smooth service during busy periods, ensuring timely delivery of dishes
Work collaboratively to maintain a positive and friendly kitchen environment

About You

Previous experience in a similar kitchen role (sous chef or senior cook experience preferred)
Passion for high-quality food and elegant presentation
Team player who enjoys working collaboratively in a close-knit environment
Organised, calm, and confident under pressure
Positive attitude and willingness to learn and develop
Strong understanding of hygiene, safety, and kitchen operations
