Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Commis Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. This role offers an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about food preparation and kitchen operations, with the chance to develop their culinary skills in a professional environment. The successful candidate will support senior chefs in preparing high-quality dishes, maintaining food safety standards, and ensuring smooth kitchen operations. Previous restaurant or hospitality experience is preferred, along with a strong commitment to teamwork and excellence in food presentation.

Duties

Assist in the preparation and cooking of a variety of dishes according to established recipes and standards
Support the senior kitchen team in food production, ensuring timely delivery of meals
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations in compliance with food safety regulations
Help with portion control and presentation of dishes to meet quality standards
Contribute to inventory management by monitoring stock levels and assisting with stock rotation
Ensure adherence to health and safety guidelines at all times
Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure efficient kitchen operations
Support supervising staff when required, demonstrating leadership qualities and organisational skills

Skills

Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, and kitchen operations within a restaurant or hospitality setting
Strong understanding of food safety standards and practices
Leadership qualities with some supervising experience preferred
Excellent team management and communication skills
Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy service hours
Good organisational skills with attention to detail in food presentation and cleanliness
Knowledge of food production processes and culinary techniques
Experience in serving customers or supporting front-of-house functions is advantageous but not essential
Enthusiasm for learning new skills and advancing within the culinary industry
