Job description:

Reliance Social Housing CIC is a Regulated Provider of social housing, governed by the National Housing Federation (NHF) Code of Governance and committed to compliance with the Regulator of Social Housing’s Governance and Financial Viability Standard (GF&V). Our mission is to provide safe, affordable, and high-quality housing solutions to communities in need, ensuring financial sustainability and compliance within the sector.

Role Overview:

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Credit Control Officer to join our Finance team. In this key role, you will be responsible for managing the company’s credit and collections processes, ensuring timely payments from customers while maintaining strong client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor and manage accounts receivable ledger to ensure timely collection of outstanding debts
Issue statements, reminders, and follow-ups on overdue accounts
Liaise with customers to resolve payment issues, disputes, or account discrepancies
Work closely with internal departments to support the collections process
Maintain detailed records of all communications, agreements, and actions taken
Produce regular aging reports and cash collection forecasts
Support month-end closing and bad debt provisions reporting
Assist in forming and reviewing rent components, including core rent, service charges, council tax, and maintenance costs.
Liaise with local councils to verify council tax elements and housing benefit matters.

Person Specification

Essential:

The ideal candidate will have:

Proven experience in credit control, accounts receivable, or financial administration
Strong communication and negotiation skills
Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy
Confident in dealing with difficult conversations while maintaining professionalism
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and ERP Systems
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Knowledge of credit legislation and best practices is advantageous

Key Skills & Competencies:

Strong analytical and numerical skills.
Knowledge of rental regulations, council tax policies
Ability to manage and negotiate effectively.
High level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information.

Qualifications & Experience:

Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
Experience in rent management, accounts receivable, property finance
Familiarity with budgeting techniques
Prior experience in credit control and customer management is beneficial.
