Job Summary
We are seeking enthusiastic, responsible, and caring individuals to join our team as Summer Camp Assistants at All Stars Fun Zone in Chingford. We are a parent-led, child-focused team dedicated to creating happy, active, and inclusive holiday experiences where every child belongs.
In this role, you will help us deliver our diverse, high-energy activity programmes for two distinct age groups: Little Stars (ages 4–7) as they explore, play, and create, and Rising Stars (ages 8–11) as they tackle team games, sports, and creative challenges. From managing massive inflatables to supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), this is a dynamic opportunity to gain invaluable childcare, recreation, and leadership experience in a supportive, positive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Activity Facilitation: Support the organisation and supervision of daily multi-activity programmes, including sports, team games, arts and crafts, and our signature inflatables.
- Camper Engagement: Actively engage with campers in a friendly, high-energy, and inclusive manner to ensure every child builds confidence and smiles every day.
- Inclusivity & SEND Support: Work closely with camp leaders to ensure a safe, supported, and celebrated environment for all children, including those with SEND.
- Health & Safety: Maintain the highest standards of safety, care, and child welfare. Help keep the campsite and activity areas clean, tidy, and safe.
- Operational Setup: Assist in setting up activity zones, preparing materials for arts and crafts, and monitoring the safe use of play equipment.
- Administrative Support: Assist with morning registration, accurate attendance tracking, and greeting parents during drop-off and pick-up hours.
- Team Collaboration: Foster a positive team atmosphere by collaborating effectively with our first-aid trained and enhanced DBS-checked camp leaders.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Age Requirement: Must be aged 16 or over at the start of employment.
- Availability: Must be available for a minimum of 1 day between 10th August and 20th August. Flexibility to cover essential camp hours is required.
- Passion for Childcare: A genuine interest in working with children and a commitment to our core pillars: Active learning, Laughter, Safety, Trust, Art, Respect, and Smiles.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal communication skills and a warm, approachable demeanor when talking to children, parents, and team members.
- Teamwork & Adaptability: Ability to take initiative independently while working fluidly as part of a dynamic recreational team.
- Experience (Desirable): Previous experience in childcare, education, youth community work, or coaching is advantageous, but a positive attitude and willingness to learn are what matter most. Full training will be provided.
- Vetting: Successful candidates will be required to undergo a background check/Enhanced DBS check where applicable.
