Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant /Porter to join our busy culinary team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen environment, supporting chefs and kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in gaining experience within the hospitality and culinary sectors, with potential pathways for career development.

Duties

Washing, sanitising, and storing dishes, utensils, pots, and pans efficiently
Assisting with basic food preparation tasks as directed by chefs or kitchen supervisors
Ensuring the cleanliness of work surfaces, floors, and kitchen equipment to uphold health and safety standards
Supporting with waste disposal and recycling procedures in accordance with company policies
Restocking supplies and ingredients to ensure smooth kitchen operations during service
Assisting with general cleaning duties within the kitchen area to maintain a hygienic environment
Supporting the team during busy periods by helping with serving or other hospitality duties as required

Skills

Previous experience in food preparation or kitchen environments is essent
Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and food safety standards is desirable
Experience working in restaurants, hotels, or other hospitality settings is a plus
Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
Good communication skills and a positive attitude towards learning new skills
Flexibility to work shifts including evenings, weekends, or public holidays as required by the establishment
