Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter/Assistant to support our culinary team in maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment. This role is vital in ensuring smooth daily operations within our restaurant or hotel setting. The ideal candidate will be proactive, reliable, and eager to learn about food preparation and hospitality services. This paid position offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience in the hospitality industry and develop culinary skills.

Duties

Assist with basic food preparation tasks under supervision, including peeling, chopping, and assembling ingredients
Support chefs with cooking and plating as needed
Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen areas, including washing dishes, utensils, pots, and pans
Ensure all kitchen equipment is cleaned, sanitised, and stored correctly
Help with organisation of supplies and stock rotation to ensure freshness and safety standards are met
Support serving staff during busy periods by assisting with clearing tables or delivering food when required
Follow health and safety regulations diligently to maintain a safe working environment
Assist with waste disposal and recycling procedures in accordance with company policies

Requirements:

Knowledge of restaurant or hotel kitchen operations is advantageous
Basic understanding of hygiene standards and health & safety regulations within a culinary environment
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail
Good organisational skills and the ability to work well as part of a team
Flexibility to work shifts as required, including evenings or weekends if necessary.
