Production Manager - Night Shift
Location: Le Maitre, Peterborough – Full-time, on-site
Reports to: Operations Manager
Salary: £35,000 – £42,000 per annum, dependent on experience
Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday - 16:15 - 12:15 (Training will be completed during the day shift 07:45 - 16:00 Monday - Thursday 07:45 - 14:45 Friday - for 3 consecutive weeks before moving to the night shift)

Job Overview
Le Maitre is seeking an experienced and safety-focused Night Shift Manager to lead and oversee all night shift operations at our Peterborough manufacturing site. This is a key leadership role responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant running of the facility during night hours. You will manage a team of production workers, mixers, pressers, and packers, ensuring output targets are met while maintaining the highest standards of health and safety.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on manager with a background in manufacturing or a regulated production environment who thrives in a leadership role and takes personal pride in maintaining a safe and productive workplace.
Working Hours
- Monday–Friday : 16:15 - 12:15
- Paid break: 18:30-18:45
- Unpaid dinner: 21:30 - 22:00
Key Responsibilities:
Site Management & Operations
- Take full responsibility for the safe and efficient running of the night shift across all production areas
- Oversee and coordinate the activities of production workers, mixers, pressers, and packing staff
- Ensure production targets and quality standards are consistently met
- Monitor workflow across the shift and reallocate resource where needed to maintain output
- Conduct shift handovers with day shift management, reporting on output, incidents, and any operational issues
- Maintain accurate shift logs, production records, and incident reports
Health & Safety
- Act as the responsible person for health and safety on site during the night shift
- Ensure all staff follow safety protocols, PPE requirements, and site rules at all times
- Conduct regular safety checks and risk assessments throughout the shift
- Manage and report any accidents, near-misses, or safety concerns in line with company procedures
- Maintain fire safety registers and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements
- Enforce safe handling procedures for pyrotechnic materials and chemical substances
People Management
- Lead, motivate, and support a team of night shift workers to maintain morale and performance
- Monitor attendance and punctuality, managing absence in line with company policy
- Identify training needs and support staff development
- Escalate disciplinary matters or performance concerns to the Operations Director as required
- Foster a positive and safety-first working culture across the team
Who We're Looking For
- Proven experience in a supervisory or management role within a manufacturing, production, or industrial environment
- Strong understanding of health and safety legislation and best practice in a production setting
- Experience managing teams in a regulated or hazardous materials environment is highly desirable
- IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent H&S qualification is desirable but not essential
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions quickly
- Reliable, responsible, and committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety and conduct
- Comfortable working night shifts on a permanent basis
