Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Veterinary Care Assistant to join our compassionate veterinary team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about animal health and welfare to gain valuable experience in a professional setting. The successful candidate will support veterinary staff with daily clinical tasks, animal care, and laboratory procedures, contributing to the overall wellbeing of our patients. This paid position is ideal for those looking to develop their skills within the veterinary field and make a positive impact on animal lives.

Duties

Assist veterinary surgeons and nurses with clinical procedures, including preparing animals for examinations and treatments
Support in administering medication and treatments under supervision
Help with laboratory work such as collecting samples, processing tests, and maintaining accurate records
Provide care and comfort to animals during hospitalisation, including feeding, cleaning, and monitoring their condition
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the clinical environment, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards
Handle administrative tasks such as updating patient records and scheduling appointments
Educate pet owners on basic animal care and post-treatment instructions under guidance from veterinary staff
Provide reception cover on an as-needed basis

Skills

Previous veterinary experience or laboratory experience is highly desirable but not essential; training will be provided for all duties
Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in record keeping and clinical procedures
Compassionate nature with excellent communication skills when interacting with pet owners and team members
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities within a busy veterinary practice
A genuine passion for animal welfare and a commitment to providing high-quality care

Pay: £27,000.00 per year
