Job Summary

We are a busy, friendly GP practice based in Hendon (NW4) seeking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic Medical Receptionist to join our team.

This role requires prior experience working within a GP surgery or primary care setting. The successful candidate will be confident, organised, and professional, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

As the first point of contact for our patients—both in person and over the telephone—you will play a key role in delivering a high standard of patient care and ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the practice.

We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, works well within a team, and remains calm under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

Act as the first point of contact for patients attending the surgery or contacting the practice by telephone
Book, amend, and cancel patient appointments using the clinical system
Handle patient enquiries in a polite, professional, and confidential manner
Provide administrative support to clinicians and the wider practice team
Maintain accurate patient records in line with practice procedures
Work effectively as part of a busy frontline team in a fast-paced healthcare environment

Requirements

Essential: Previous experience working in a GP surgery or primary care setting
Clear understanding of the role of a Medical Receptionist within general practice
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with patients in a calm, compassionate, and professional manner
Strong understanding of patient confidentiality, data protection, and information governance
Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced and changing environment
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
Ability to use initiative while adhering to practice policies and procedures
Proven ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
Professional, courteous, and patient-focused approach at all times
Good IT skills, including confident use of keyboard systems and clinical software
Flexible and reliable, with the ability to work the required hours to support service delivery

Pay: £12.71-£13.00 per hour

Work Location: In person
