General Manager – Pogue Mahone, Liverpool

We are looking for an experienced and energetic General Manager to lead the team at Pogue Mahone, one of Liverpool’s best-known Irish pubs.

Pogue Mahone is all about proper Irish hospitality, great drinks, live sport, live music and a busy, buzzing atmosphere. We need someone who can bring strong leadership, high standards and personality to the role, while keeping the pub running smoothly day to day.

This is a brilliant opportunity for a hands-on General Manager who loves a busy venue, understands how to drive sales, and knows how to create the kind of atmosphere that keeps people coming back.

What we are looking for

We are looking for someone who:

Has previous experience as a General Manager, ideally in a busy pub, bar or late-night venue
Knows how to lead, motivate and develop a team
Understands the importance of great service, strong standards and consistency
Is confident with wet-led sales, live sport, events and weekend trade
Can manage wages, stock, GP, rotas and day-to-day financial performance
Is organised, reliable and able to stay calm when the venue is at full speed
Has a strong presence on the floor and leads from the front
Can bring ideas, energy and pride to the venue

The role

As General Manager, you will be responsible for the full running of the venue, including:

Leading and developing the management and bar team
Driving sales through events, sport, live music and great customer experience
Maintaining high standards across service, cleanliness, compliance and venue presentation
Managing rotas, wage budgets, stock control and ordering
Working closely with the operations team to improve performance
Creating a strong team culture where people enjoy coming to work
Making sure Pogue Mahone continues to feel like a proper Irish pub with great atmosphere and personality

About you

You will be the kind of person who enjoys being in the thick of it. Someone who knows when to be structured and professional, but also understands that hospitality is about people, atmosphere and personality.

You need to understand what makes a great Irish pub work: warmth, energy, good music, good drinks, good craic and a team that genuinely cares.
