Location: Newcastle

Contract Type: Permanent (contract 36 hours)

Hours: Flexibility within 24/7 shifts (12 hours shifts)

Salary: Hourly rate £14.20 + benefits packages.

The Service Overview:

Service Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the team supporting a Service User in Newcastle, with excellent access to public transport links. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced Support Worker looking to take the next step in their career as a Senior Support Worker.

The service provides 24/7 support to one Service User with a learning disability who is largely independent and does not require personal care. The role focuses on promoting independence and supporting the individual with day-to-day activities, including household tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and maintaining their home environment.

The Service User experiences anxiety, particularly when meeting new people, but once familiar with those around him, he is very sociable, chatty, and enjoys spending time watching movies. A key aspect of the role is encouraging and supporting him to access the community more frequently, build confidence, and participate in activities that promote his wellbeing and independence.

As a Senior Support Worker, you will support the Service Manager in the day-to-day delivery of the service, provide leadership to the team in the Service Manager's absence, attend management meetings, compile reports, conduct supervisions, and support the training and development of team members. There will also be opportunities to support shifts with other local Service Users where required.

The service operates on a 24-hour shift pattern to ensure continuous support and consistency for the Service User.

Your responsibilities will include:

Working as part of a dedicated Team you’ll provide person centric support to the Service User on shifts as required.
Enabling Service Users to lead a full and active life, where freedom of choice is respected whilst assessing their needs, individual support and care plans and development of these plans as required.
Support individuals’ safety, take appropriate action to safeguard their welfare and protect them from abuse wherever possible.
Be an informal point of contact for those in the service users circle of support (e.g. Families and Social Workers)
Accurately report and record any issues related to the care and support of our Service Users to monitor their health and wellbeing.
Supporting Service Manager with effective service delivery, attending meetings, writing reports, managing & directly the Team as required.
Supporting coaching & development of Team members.
Comply with Health and Safety regulations and have regard for the Health, Safety and Welfare of others.
Follow company policies, procedures, and guidance.

What you’ll need:

· GCSE Maths & English (or equivalent)

· Recognised Health & Social Care qualification level 2+

· Competent IT skills.

· Committed to completion of mandatory induction & training.
