Full job description

Job Title: Medical Receptionist
Hours: Part Time – 25 hours per week fixed term 6 months
Working Pattern: Rota basis between 7:00am – 6:30pm (usually 5-hour shifts)

Job Summary

We are looking to recruit a motivated and reliable Medical Receptionist to join our friendly and supportive practice team.

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent organisational and administrative skills and will provide a welcoming, compassionate and professional service to our patients. This is a busy and varied front-facing role where strong communication skills, discretion and the ability to prioritise workload are essential.

You will play a key role in supporting the efficient day-to-day running of the practice, working confidently in a fast-paced environment and responding appropriately to patient needs.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Communicate effectively with patients, clinicians and external organisations both face-to-face and via telephone
Book and manage patient appointments and respond to a wide range of enquiries
Process prescription requests in line with practice procedures
Open, sort and distribute incoming post and manage deliveries
Scan, copy and file patient documentation accurately
Receive and process patient payments where required
Act as a central point of communication, taking messages and ensuring actions are completed
Provide general administrative support to clinicians and colleagues
Support patients with sensitivity, professionalism and confidentiality

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organisational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritise
High attention to detail and accuracy in record keeping
Good customer service skills with a patient-focused approach
Ability to remain calm and work effectively under pressure
Adaptability and willingness to support the wider team
Understanding of the importance of confidentiality and ethical working

Pay: £12.71 per hour
