Full job description

Hours: Approximately 16 hours per week, worked across 5 days
Location: Office and community/field-based
Additional requirement: Participation in the shared on-call rota

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced, organised and dependable Field Care Supervisor to support the day-to-day delivery and quality assurance of our domiciliary care service.

This is a varied field and office-based role, working closely with the Registered Manager, care coordination team and care staff to ensure that care is safe, effective, person-centred and consistently delivered to a high standard.

The successful candidate will provide an important link between our care staff, service users and management team.

Main Responsibilities

The Field Care Supervisor will:

Support the preparation, implementation and review of care plans and risk assessments.
Carry out regular spot checks and field observations of care staff.
Conduct and support staff supervisions and competency assessments.
Monitor standards of care delivered in service users' homes and address or escalate concerns promptly.
Support the preparation and management of staff rotas, including responding to changes in care packages and staff availability.
Support new staff with induction, shadowing and assessment before independent working.
Monitor care documentation and ensure records are accurate, complete and maintained to the required standard.
Identify and escalate safeguarding, medication, health and safety, documentation or quality concerns.
Support the Registered Manager with quality assurance, audits and service improvement.
Communicate professionally with service users, relatives, care staff and external professionals.
Participate in the company's shared on-call rota, alongside members of the management team.
Respond appropriately to out-of-hours staffing and operational issues when on call.
Assist with arranging emergency cover for sickness and unexpected absences.
Where necessary, provide care-call cover as a last resort to ensure continuity and safety of care.
Support other reasonable operational duties required for the safe and effective running of the service.

Essential Requirements

The successful candidate should:

Have good experience within domiciliary/community care.
Have experience as a Senior Carer, Field Care Supervisor, Team Leader or in a similar role, or demonstrate the ability to progress into a supervisory position.
Have a good working knowledge and understanding of CQC requirements, regulations and standards relevant to domiciliary care.
Understand safeguarding, the Mental Capacity Act, person-centred care, medication management, risk assessment, infection prevention and professional record keeping.
Be confident supervising, observing and providing constructive feedback to care staff.
Have good organisational and communication skills.
Be confident using electronic care-management systems and completing professional documentation.
Be able to work independently in the community and as part of the management team.
Be flexible and able to respond appropriately to changing operational needs.
Be willing and able to participate in the on-call rota.

Desirable

Level 3 Diploma/NVQ in Adult Care, Health & Social Care or equivalent.
Previous supervisory experience within a CQC-regulated domiciliary care service.
Experience completing care plans, risk assessments, spot checks and staff competency assessments.
Experience supporting audits and quality assurance.
Enhanced DBS registered with the DBS Update Service.
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.

Working Pattern

The position is approximately 16 hours per week worked across five days, providing regular supervisory presence throughout the working week.

The role combines:

Field supervision – spot checks, observations, competency assessments, staff support and service-user reviews.

Office responsibilities – care plans, rotas, documentation, quality monitoring and communication.

On-call responsibilities – participating in a shared management on-call rota and helping resolve urgent staffing or care-related issues when on duty.

The Field Care Supervisor will work closely with management to maintain a safe, responsive and inspection-ready service, while supporting care staff to consistently provide high-quality, person-centred care.

Pay: From £14.00 per hour
