Full job description

Part-Time Bookkeeper

Chiddingstone Castle, Kent
3 days per week | Part-time

Pay: £17,400 (FTE =£29,000)

About the Role

Chiddingstone Castle is seeking an organised, reliable and experienced Part-Time Bookkeeper to join our team for three days per week.

This is an important role within the Castle's day-to-day operations, responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the smooth running of the organisation. The successful candidate will be confident working independently, have excellent attention to detail and be comfortable managing a range of bookkeeping and financial administration duties.

The role would suit someone who enjoys working in a varied environment and takes pride in producing accurate, timely and well-organised financial information.

Key Responsibilities

Maintaining accurate and up-to-date bookkeeping records
Processing purchase and sales invoices
Recording and reconciling payments and receipts
Bank reconciliations
Managing supplier and customer accounts
Preparing and processing payments
Monitoring outstanding invoices and following up where appropriate
Maintaining accurate records of income and expenditure
Assisting with monthly management accounts and financial reporting
Preparing information for the annual accounts and liaising with external accountants
Assisting with payroll and pension administration, where required
Maintaining organised and confidential financial documentation
Supporting the management team with financial queries and information
Undertaking general financial administration as required

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

Experienced in bookkeeping or a similar finance role
Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
Confident working independently and managing their own workload
Reliable, discreet and trustworthy when handling confidential financial information
Comfortable using accounting software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
A minimum of two years experience working with Sage 50 Accounts
A good communicator who can work effectively with colleagues, suppliers and external advisers
Practical and willing to take a hands-on approach
Able to work accurately to deadlines

Previous experience of working within a small business, charitable organisation, visitor attraction, estate or similar environment would be advantageous, although not essential.
