Role Details

Job Title: Senior Support Worker
Reports to: Registered Manager
Location:
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: Full-time, 36 hours per week

Day Shifts: 8:00am – 8:00pm
Night Shifts: 8:00pm – 8:00am
Weekend Work: Every other weekend required
Salary: £14

Role Overview

The Senior Support Worker role is central to ensuring that adults with autism, learning disabilities, mental health conditions, and complex needs receive safe, high-quality, and person-centred support.

You will work closely with management to supervise and mentor colleagues, act as a role model, and deliver direct care. This role bridges frontline care with leadership responsibilities, helping to create environments where individuals can live with dignity, independence, and opportunity.

Responsibilities and Duties

Care and Support

Deliver compassionate, person-centred care that promotes dignity and independence.
Act as a keyworker, supporting individuals to set and achieve goals.
Encourage meaningful activities and community participation.
Promote wellbeing and positive risk-taking.
Report safeguarding concerns immediately in line with Reside Support policy.

Leadership and Team Support

Supervise, mentor, and motivate support workers.
Induct, train, and support new team members.
Lead by example, maintaining high standards of care and conduct.
Assist with rota planning to ensure safe staffing.

Compliance and Administration

Maintain accurate records (support plans, MAR charts, daily logs).
Manage service users’ finances responsibly.
Support audits, policy implementation, and service improvement.
Carry out On-Call (Tier 1) responsibilities. If an incident occurs that requires your presence, you must attend the service.
Provide flexible support across other Reside Support services when required by the business.

Professional Development & Collaboration

Take part in supervision, reflective practice, and training.
Contribute to continuous service development.
Maintain positive working relationships with individuals, families, colleagues, and professionals.

Person Specification

Essential

Experience in a care or supported living role.
Strong communication and leadership skills.
Ability to stay organised and work under pressure.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting rights of vulnerable adults.
Willingness to complete Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care.
Flexibility to work shifts (days/nights) and every other weekend.

Desirable

Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (or higher).
Previous experience in a senior/supervisory role.
Knowledge of autism, learning disabilities, and mental health.
Full UK driving licence (if role requires).
