Deputy Manager – Residential Care Home (Mental Health & Challenging Behaviour)

Salary: £29,000–£35,000 per annum plus two annual performance bonuses
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Hours: 40 hours per week, including flexibility to participate in the management on-call rota

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Deputy Manager to support the Registered Manager in the leadership and day-to-day operation of our residential care home. The service supports adults with mental health needs and behaviours that may challenge, delivering high-quality, person-centred care in a safe and supportive environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious care professional looking to develop their career within a growing and supportive organisation.

Key Responsibilities

Assist the Registered Manager in the overall management of the home.
Lead, motivate, and support care staff to deliver exceptional care and support.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, policies, and procedures.
Promote person-centred care and positive behavioural support approaches.
Monitor care plans, risk assessments, and support plans to ensure residents' needs are met.
Conduct staff supervisions, spot checks, and performance reviews.
Support recruitment, induction, training, and staff development.
Maintain accurate records and contribute to audits and quality assurance processes.
Build effective relationships with residents, families, healthcare professionals, and external agencies.
Participate in the management on-call rota as required.

Essential Requirements

Minimum Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (Level 5 desirable or willingness to work towards).
Proven experience supporting adults with:
Mental health conditions
Complex needs
Challenging behaviours
Experience in a Senior Support Worker, Team Leader, Assistant Manager, or Deputy Manager position.
Strong understanding of safeguarding, CQC standards, and person-centred care.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
Ability to remain calm and effective in challenging situations.
Good IT and record-keeping skills.

Desirable Skills & Experience

Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) training.
Experience working with learning disabilities, autism, or forensic / mental health services.
Full UK driving licence.
