Help Build a Home That Changes Lives

This is more than a Deputy Manager role, it's your opportunity to help create an exceptional children's home from the very beginning!

We're opening a brand-new residential home for children and young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD), and we're looking for an ambitious, compassionate and experienced Deputy Manager to join us on this exciting journey!

If you've ever wanted the chance to help create an Outstanding service instead of inheriting one, this is that opportunity. Alongside our amazing Registered Manager and RI, you will be integral in crafting the service from the ground up.

The Role:

As Deputy Manager, you'll work closely with the Registered Manager to prepare the home for opening, recruit and develop an exceptional team, and establish a therapeutic, child-centred environment where children can flourish.

You'll lead by example, support the day-to-day operation of the home and help ensure the highest standards of care, safeguarding and regulatory compliance are maintained.

You'll also have the opportunity to develop your own leadership skills, with a clear pathway towards becoming a Registered Manager in the future.

Key Responsibilities:

Support the Registered Manager with the successful opening and day-to-day leadership of the home.
Lead shifts and oversee the smooth operation of the service.
Deliver and promote high-quality, therapeutic and child-centred care.
Build positive, trusting relationships with children and young people.
Support the implementation of personalised care plans, risk assessments and behaviour support strategies.
Promote positive behaviour through trauma-informed and relationship-based approaches.
Ensure safeguarding procedures and Children's Homes Regulations are followed at all times.
Monitor the quality of care through audits, observations and coaching.
Build effective relationships with families, social workers, education providers and healthcare professionals.
Deputise for the Registered Manager in their absence.

What we need:

Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards if not already achieved).
Previous experience in a senior or deputy role within a children's residential home.
Experience supporting children with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).
Strong understanding of safeguarding, Children's Homes Regulations and the Quality Standards.
Excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills.
Full UK driving licence.
Experience supporting Ofsted inspections.
Experience helping to establish or develop residential services.
Knowledge of therapeutic parenting, attachment theory and trauma-informed care.
Ambition to progress to a Registered Manager role.
