About the Role: Counselling Teacher

We are seeking committed and experienced Counselling Teachers to join our Higher Education team at Activate Learning. You will play a vital role in delivering and co-tutoring our foundation counselling courses, helping to shape the professional and personal development of aspiring counsellors.

You will deliver high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment to adult learners undertaking counselling qualifications aligned with BACP ethical standards. You will support learners in developing core competencies, reflective practice, and readiness for placement and professional accreditation.

This is a permanent, part-time role working 16.9 hours per week at our Guildford College campus. Additional hours may be available depending on the requirements of the faculty and your qualifications.

What do you need to be successful as a Counselling Teacher at Activate Learning?

We are looking for individuals who can serve as role models for our learners, ensuring they graduate with not only professional qualifications but also the skills needed to succeed in the workplace.
You must have:

A recognised Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (minimum 420 guided learning hours)
A degree or master’s degree in Counselling or a related field (Master’s level preferred)
Accredited membership of BACP or eligible to become accredited
Completion of at least 10 hours of personal therapy
Evidence of ongoing CPD (minimum 30 hours annually)
Current supervised counselling practice with a minimum of 6 months’ post-qualifying experience

Whilst previous teaching experience or qualification would be an advantage, it is not a requirement. As long as you have the qualifications or experience to teach on our courses and demonstrate the attributes to be an inspirational teacher, we can provide you with the necessary training, development and support to equip you to teach in the FE sector.

To be suitable for the additional hours and responsibilities as a programme coordinator you should also have a supervision qualification or be willing to work towards this
