Job Description:

This is an office-based sales role combining customer enquiries, quotations, and order processing with a proactive approach to generating business through follow-ups and outbound calls — not simply waiting for inbound enquiries.

About Us

As a long-established, family-run timber merchant supplying high-quality timber and building materials to both trade and retail customers across the South East. Our range includes structural timber, sheet materials, fencing, decking, cladding, and bespoke machined timber, supported by strong product knowledge and reliable service.

The Role

We are looking for a motivated Internal Sales Executive to join our office-based team.

The role involves dealing with incoming enquiries, preparing quotations, processing orders, and supporting customers, while also taking a proactive approach to identifying and generating new business opportunities.

While many enquiries come inbound and we have a strong base of existing customers, we are looking for someone who is comfortable picking up the phone to follow up quotes, contact potential customers, and help bring in additional business.

You will be dealing with both trade and retail customers, primarily over the phone, with occasional face-to-face interaction when covering the sales desk.

Key Responsibilities

Handling inbound enquiries from trade and retail customers
Preparing quotations and processing customer orders
Following up quotations and previous enquiries to secure orders
Understanding customer requirements and recommending suitable timber and building materials for their projects
Providing product advice and helping customers determine the most appropriate materials for what they are trying to achieve
Identifying opportunities to upsell or suggest additional products that may benefit the customer’s current or future projects
Proactively making outbound calls to follow up enquiries and identify new business opportunities
Helping to develop both cash and account customers by building strong relationships and encouraging repeat business
Growing and maintaining our online sales shop
Working closely with the office and yard team to ensure smooth order processing
Maintaining accurate records of customer enquiries, quotations, and orders

What We’re Looking For

Previous experience in sales, internal sales, or a customer-facing role
Confident speaking with customers on the phone
Proactive and motivated to identify opportunities to generate sales
Strong communication and organisational skills
Friendly and professional approach with both trade and retail customers
Able to work well within a team environment
Timber or building materials knowledge would be beneficial

Monday – Friday 8am – 5.15pm
