Full job description

La Cocina Mexicano is an exciting new family-owned business venture that launched in December 2025 as part of STACK Newcastle. Bringing the vibrant flavours of authentic Mexican street food to the heart of the city, we're passionate about serving fresh, high-quality food alongside exceptional customer service. As we continue to grow, we're looking for enthusiastic, hardworking individuals to join our team.

About the Role

As a Catering Assistant, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day running of La Cocina Mexicano. Your responsibilities will include:

Taking and processing customer orders efficiently and accurately.
Preparing and serving fresh Mexican street food to a consistently high standard.
Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in line with food safety regulations.
Assisting with food preparation, stock rotation, and inventory management.
Delivering a friendly, welcoming, and memorable customer experience.
Ensuring consistent portion control and food presentation.
Handling dietary requirements and food allergies with care and attention.
Supporting our social media presence by helping capture engaging content that showcases our food, team, and customer experience.

While teamwork is at the heart of everything we do, we're also looking for people who can work confidently on their own, use their initiative, and take pride in their work.

About You

We're looking for energetic, reliable individuals with a positive attitude and a passion for hospitality. You'll enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, be eager to learn, and be ready to get involved wherever needed.

Essential:

Availability to work weekends and evenings.
Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing business needs.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen equipment.
A positive, can-do attitude and willingness to work as part of a team.

Desirable:

Previous experience in catering, hospitality, or food service.
Customer service experience.
Basic Food Hygiene and Health & Safety knowledge.
A genuine passion for Mexican cuisine and street food.
