Fractional Hospitality Marketing Lead – Pub Business

North Yorkshire | Self-employed | Primarily on-site | £400 per day

We are an independent, growing pub business operating food-and-drink-led venues in North Yorkshire.

We are looking for an experienced hospitality marketer to lead a substantial marketing project across the business, from significant expansion of exiting strategy, to full relaunch of venue marketing where needed.

This is not a general social-media role. We need someone with substantial hospitality-sector experience who can undertake an intensive initial one or two-week (4-6 days) project, establish the strategy and priorities, oversee the first stage of implementation and then provide focused ongoing direction to our internal team for approximately one day per month.

The project

The two venues require different approaches:

One venue requires a complete marketing relaunch: positioning, target markets, brand presentation, photography, digital presence, food-and-drink marketing, events, bedroom marketing, launch campaign, promotions and an ongoing marketing plan.
The other requires significantly more airtime and coverage: stronger campaigns, more consistent customer communication and better exploitation of food, drink, events, tourism and local demand.

Both venues have significant unused capacity, particularly through quieter daytimes and midweek evenings, though both have considerable potential to increase food covers, wet sales, events and bedroom revenue.

Initial one-week project

The successful applicant will undertake an intensive initial project lasting approximately one week.

During this project, you will:

Audit the current positioning, customer base, competitors, marketing channels and digital presence of both venues.
Establish a clear and commercially useful position for each venue.
Design the complete marketing relaunch for one venue.
Develop a stronger growth and communications plan for the established venue.
Develop practical strategies to increase food covers, wet sales and repeat visits.
Identify underexploited customer occasions, dayparts and target markets.
Create a stronger programme of events, promotions, partnerships and seasonal campaigns.
Review and prioritise improvements to websites, booking journeys, Google profiles, social platforms and customer databases.
Review bedroom marketing and revenue management, including pricing, distribution, Booking.com and other OTAs, channel-management systems and direct-booking opportunities.
Identify the photography, video and other creative assets required.
Create a practical annual marketing and events calendar.
Develop campaigns and promotions linked to measurable commercial objectives.
Establish useful reporting around covers, wet sales, bookings, events, bedroom performance, customer acquisition and campaign results.
Produce clear briefs, priorities and actions that our internal marketing team and external suppliers can execute.
Oversee the first stage of implementation.

Ongoing monthly oversight

Following the initial one-week project, the engagement will continue at approximately one or two days per month, plus reasonable calls and emails between visits.

This ongoing involvement will be used to:

Review performance against agreed commercial objectives.
Set priorities for the month ahead.
Direct food, drink, event, accommodation and wider promotional activity.
Review implementation by the internal team.
Refine campaigns based on results and changing commercial priorities.
Coordinate with external specialists where required.
Maintain momentum and accountability across the business.

Essential experience

Applicants must have:

Substantial, sector-specific hospitality marketing experience.
Direct food-and-beverage marketing experience within pubs, restaurants, hotels or hospitality groups.
Personally led the marketing campaigns for hospitality venue launches or relaunches.
At least one detailed case study demonstrating measurable commercial success from a hospitality launch or relaunch campaign they personally led.
Experience marketing food, drink, events and different hospitality occasions.
Evidence that their work has produced measurable commercial results—not simply increased posting activity or engagement.
Experience developing strategy, planning campaigns and overseeing implementation.
Practical knowledge of hospitality websites, booking journeys, local search, Google, social media, email marketing, promotions, events and customer communications.
The ability to work independently and provide clear direction to an internal team.

The required case study must explain:

The venue and its commercial situation.
The objectives of the launch or relaunch.
The applicant’s precise personal responsibility.
The strategy and principal actions they developed.
The measurable commercial results achieved.

Strongly preferred

Ideally, applicants will also have:

Experience marketing multiple hospitality venues.
Experience developing food-and-drink campaigns, events programmes and promotions that have increased covers and revenue.
Experience marketing pub bedrooms, small hotels or other accommodation.
Knowledge of hospitality revenue management, including rates, availability, distribution, OTAs, channel managers and direct-booking strategy.
Experience working with photographers, designers, web developers, PR providers and other specialists.
Knowledge of the North Yorkshire hospitality, tourism and visitor market.

Engagement

Self-employed consultancy engagement.
Initial intensive project lasting approximately one week.
Followed by approximately one day per month of ongoing oversight and direction.
Reasonable calls and emails between monthly visits.
£400 per day, invoiced for days worked.
This is primarily an on-site engagement.
The initial project will be delivered largely at the venues.
Some home working may be permitted by prior agreement where appropriate.
Ongoing site attendance will be determined by the work required each month.
Potential for the engagement to expand as the business grows.
