About Us

BG’s Café is a welcoming rural café serving a range of freshly prepared and cooked food, alongside hot and cold drinks. We pride ourselves on providing friendly, efficient service and quality food in a relaxed countryside setting.

The café offers a varied menu using quality ingredients, with a focus on freshly prepared meals, snacks and refreshments. We are committed to providing our customers with a great experience, from the food we serve to the friendly service they receive.

The Role

We are looking for a Kitchen Assistant / Cook to join the team at BG’s Café on an initial 12 months fixed term contract.

This is a varied role supporting the day-to-day running of the café, from preparing and cooking fresh café food through to serving customers and handling cash.

Key Responsibilities

Preparing and cooking a range of café food to a high standard
Preparing ingredients and keeping the kitchen clean, tidy and well organised
Serving customers at the café counter in a friendly and professional manner
Taking customer orders and handling cash and card payments accurately
Replenishing food and counter displays throughout the day
Maintaining high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and health & safety
Supporting the wider café team with the smooth running of the service
Following food hygiene and company procedures at all times

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

Friendly, approachable and customer focused
Reliable and able to work well as part of a team
Comfortable working in a busy café environment
Confident preparing and cooking food
Comfortable handling cash and taking customer payments
Organised, with good attention to detail
Able to maintain high standards of cleanliness and food hygiene
Flexible and willing to help wherever needed

Previous experience in a café, kitchen or catering environment would be an advantage, but full training can be provided for the right person.

Contract: 12 months fixed term

Salary: Minimum Wage

Hours of Work

3 days per week, working between Monday and Sunday on a shift pattern.

Working hours: 8.30am – 5.00pm
You will be required to work 1 in 3 weekends
Additional weekend working will occasionally be required to support special events, such as Christmas Fayre, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.
