Capel Grange Residential Home, Five Oak Green
Full Time hours.

Capel Grange Residential Home is a 38-bed care home providing 24-hour Residential and Dementia Care. Located just off the main Maidstone Road in Five Oak Green, we are proud to promote a working and living environment that is professional, caring, courteous, and fun.

We are currently looking to recruit a Kitchen Assistant to join our friendly team on a full-time basis.

About the role

As a Kitchen Assistant, you will play an important part in helping us provide nutritious meals and a positive dining experience for our residents. You will support the cook and kitchen team in the day-to-day running of the kitchen while maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and safety.

Key responsibilities

Assist with the preparation and serving of nutritious meals and beverages for residents.
Support the cook and kitchen team with daily food preparation tasks.
Ensure all food hygiene and health and safety regulations are followed at all times.
Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, dining areas, equipment, and utensils.
Wash dishes, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment promptly and safely.
Help receive, check, and store food deliveries correctly.
Ensure food is stored, labelled, and rotated in line with food safety standards.
Assist in catering for residents' dietary requirements, allergies, and preferences.
Serve meals in a friendly and respectful manner, helping to create a positive dining experience.
Dispose of waste safely and maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the kitchen.
Report any maintenance, hygiene, or safety concerns to senior kitchen staff or the manager.
Work as part of a team to provide excellent support and care for residents.
Follow company policies, safeguarding procedures, and confidentiality guidelines.
Support with setting up and clearing dining rooms before and after meal services.
Undertake any other reasonable duties requested by the Head Chef or Care Home Manager.

Skills and qualities

Good communication and teamwork skills.
Reliable, punctual, and hardworking.
Caring and respectful attitude towards elderly residents.
Basic understanding of food hygiene standards.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Previous kitchen or catering experience is desirable but not essential.
