Join LHCC Group and support our growing workforce by providing efficient, professional and confidential Human Resources and recruitment services.

LHCC Group is seeking an organised and proactive Human Resources Assistant to join our Head Office team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to develop their career in Human Resources while supporting recruitment, employee relations and HR administration across our specialist mental health care services.

Hours of Work

37.5hrs per week (Full-time)

PURPOSE:

Human Resources Assistants support a range of HR functions including recruitment, training, staff development, performance appraisal, and employee relations policies. The role involves assisting with the collection, maintenance, and analysis of HR data, as well as providing administrative and operational support to ensure effective workforce management. HR Assistants also support managers with HR processes and help ensure that policies and procedures are followed consistently across the organisation.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE:

There are no strict formal academic entry requirements for this role; however, most entrants hold a degree or equivalent qualification, often supported by relevant experience in human resources or administration. Employers may also expect staff to work towards professional development, including membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). Vocational qualifications in Human Resources are available from Level 2 to Level 7, supporting career progression within the profession.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

HR Administration & Recruitment

Maintain and update the recruitment database and recruitment inbox
Support recruitment and selection processes, including advertising vacancies
Assist with shortlisting, interviewing, and ensuring fair recruitment practices
Organise interview schedules and prepare interview packs (job descriptions, application forms, templates, and supporting documents)
Process starters and leavers, ensuring accurate records are maintained
Prepare offer letters and employment contracts
Maintain computerised personnel and HR systems

Employee Records & Compliance

Maintain confidential personnel files and ensure data accuracy
Collate, track, and chase missing employee documentation (including occupational health forms, annual reviews, driving licences, passports, and right-to-work evidence)
Carry out right-to-work and eligibility checks in line with UK legislation and UKVI requirements
Scan, file, and store HR documents securely on HR systems
Maintain accurate employee records at all times, ensuring confidentiality and GDPR compliance

Absence & Attendance Management

Monitor holiday and sickness absence records
Process self-certification forms and medical certificates
Provide monthly absence reports to HR management
Highlight absence concerns to management when necessary
Support monitoring of probation periods and ensure review forms are completed on time

Induction & Training Support

Monitor and track staff inductions for new employees
Support coordination of staff training, development, and professional qualifications
Maintain records of employee development and follow up on outstanding training requirements

General HR Support & Communication

Respond to HR queries from staff and external parties in a professional and timely manner
Provide advice and support to managers on HR procedures and documentation
Support resolution of policy and procedural queries in line with HR best practice
Maintain effective working relationships across departments

General Administration

Provide administrative support for HR projects and management tasks
Maintain filing systems and document storage for HR records
Carry out general administrative duties as required
Undertake ad hoc duties as requested by the Director or management team

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Level 3 qualification in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related discipline is desirable.
Applicants currently working towards a relevant Level 3 or higher qualification will also be considered.
Previous experience in Human Resources, recruitment or administration is desirable.
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and HR systems.
Good communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with discretion.
