Full job description

Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Mental Health Team Leader to oversee overnight care and support within a dedicated mental health setting. This vital role involves leading a team of care professionals during night shifts, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centered care for individuals experiencing mental health challenges. As a Team Leader, you will be responsible for supervising staff, managing care plans, and maintaining a safe, supportive environment that promotes recovery and well-being. Your leadership will inspire confidence, foster teamwork, and uphold the highest standards of mental health care.

Duties

Lead and supervise a team of care staff during night shifts, providing guidance and support to ensure effective service delivery
Oversee the implementation and review of personalized care plans tailored to each individual’s needs
Ensure compliance with all relevant mental health legislation, policies, and safeguarding procedures
Communicate clearly with team members, residents, families, and external professionals to coordinate care effectively
Monitor residents’ well-being throughout the night, responding promptly to any incidents or emergencies
Maintain accurate documentation of care activities, incident reports, and shift handovers using IT systems
Support staff development through supervision, training, and mentoring to promote continuous improvement

Qualifications

Proven supervising or leadership experience within a care home or senior care environment
Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with residents, families, and multidisciplinary teams
Knowledge of mental health care plans and safeguarding procedures
Ability to use IT systems for documentation and reporting purposes
Valid driving license preferred for travel between sites or community visits
Experience in caring for individuals with mental health needs is highly desirable
Demonstrated ability to supervise staff and foster a positive team environment
