Full job description

We are looking for an experienced Accounts Administrator/Bookkeeper to join our friendly team in a varied, part-time role.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone seeking flexible working hours within a small office environment. The role combines bookkeeping with general accounts administration, so we're looking for someone who enjoys a varied workload and is happy to support the day-to-day running of the finance function.

The role is approximately 10 hours per week, with flexibility over when these hours are worked. There is scope for additional hours in the future. Salary will be dependent on experience and qualifications.

This is an office-based role. As our office is not easily accessible by public transport, applicants will need to have their own transport.

Key Responsibilities

General accounts administration
Maintain accurate financial records using Sage 50
Process purchase invoices and supplier payments, including foreign currency transactions
Reconcile and monitor customer payments
Reconcile GBP and foreign currency bank accounts
Process credit card transactions and reconciliations
Prepare and submit VAT returns
Assist with other day-to-day finance and administrative tasks as required

About You

We're looking for someone who:

Has previous bookkeeping and accounts administration experience
Has a good working knowledge of Sage 50 and Microsoft Excel
Is confident preparing VAT returns (familiarity with PVA statements and C79s essential) and carrying out general bookkeeping tasks
Experience processing multi-currency transactions and working with foreign exchange payments.
Is organised and able to work independently
Has good communication and interpersonal skills
Takes pride in producing accurate work and keeping financial records up to date
An AAT, ICB, IAB or similar bookkeeping qualification would be an advantage, although candidates with relevant practical experience are equally encouraged to apply.
