Session Leader – Lower Sharpham Barton Farm

Location: Lower Sharpham Barton Farm, Ashprington, Totnes
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Rate of pay: £14.50 per hour

United Response is looking for an experienced and compassionate Session Leader to join our friendly team at Lower Sharpham Barton Farm, a unique and lively working farm supporting people with learning disabilities and complex needs.

This role would suit someone with experience supporting people with complex Special Educational Needs (SEN), learning disabilities and behaviours that challenge, who is confident working in a person-centred way and supporting individuals to get the most out of their day.

Due to the complexity of support required, experience working with individuals with complex needs and behaviours that challenge is essential.

About Lower Sharpham Barton Farm

Located just outside Totnes, our 80-acre farm offers meaningful, hands-on experiences for the people we support. Activities include woodwork, metalwork, horticulture, animal care and more.

We focus on enabling independence, building confidence and developing life skills through engaging, outdoor-based work.

What you'll be doing

As a Session Leader, you will support people to take part in meaningful activities and develop their skills and independence. Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting a person with complex needs in a variety of outdoor, farm-based activities
Providing person-centred support and responding appropriately to individual needs and behaviours
Helping with the day-to-day running of a working farm
Supporting people to develop practical skills, confidence and independence
Encouraging participation and positive routines in a fun and engaging environment

• Supporting access to the wider community and meaningful activities• Recording outcomes, progress and relevant information

What we're looking for

We’re looking for someone who is:

Experienced in supporting individuals with complex SEN, learning disabilities or complex needs
Experienced in supporting individuals with behaviours that challenge
Calm, patient and confident in responding to different situations
Person-centred and committed to promoting choice, independence and dignity
A good communicator who can build positive relationships
Flexible and able to work as part of a rota, including some evenings or weekends
Reliable, practical and happy working in an outdoor, farm-based environment
