Overview

Join a vibrant and impactful organization as the Personal Assistant to the Bishop of Basingstoke. In this dynamic role, you will serve as a vital support figure, ensuring the Bishop’s schedule runs smoothly, communications are handled efficiently, and administrative tasks are managed with precision. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the spiritual and community leadership of the Diocese while developing your professional skills in a welcoming environment. Your energetic approach and organizational expertise will help foster a well-organized and responsive office that supports the Bishop’s mission. As PA to the Bishop of Basingstoke, working closely with Bishop Kelly, you will also be part of a welcoming and supportive team of administrators. Based at Old Alresford Place, but with the opportunity to work from home, you will also work with members of the wider team and there are optional social gatherings during the year.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys speaking to and meeting with people. Communication and organisation skills are essential, and it certainly helps to have a flexible approach and an eye for detail.

Responsibilities

Manage and coordinate the Bishop’s busy schedule, including appointments, meetings, and events, ensuring all commitments are well-organized and timely.
Handle incoming correspondence, emails, and phone calls with professionalism and courtesy, maintaining excellent phone etiquette.
Prepare and organize documents, reports, presentations, and meeting agendas using Microsoft Office and Google Workspace tools.
Assist with data entry tasks to maintain accurate records of engagements, contacts, and diocesan activities.
Support office operations through clerical duties such as filing, photocopying, scanning.
Liaise with internal teams, external partners, clergy members, and community stakeholders to facilitate effective communication.
Maintain confidentiality at all times while managing sensitive information related to diocesan affairs.
Set up and facilitate meetings, lunches and events – sometimes individually and sometimes as part of a team

Experience

Proven administrative experience in an office environment with strong organizational skills.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Experience with data entry and clerical tasks that require accuracy and attention to detail.
Excellent phone etiquette combined with professional communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
Office experience that showcases reliability, discretion, and proactive problem-solving abilities.
