Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sous Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, extensive kitchen experience, and a passion for delivering exceptional food quality. This role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee food preparation, manage kitchen operations, and support the head chef in maintaining high standards of culinary excellence. The successful applicant will be instrumental in ensuring smooth kitchen functioning while fostering a positive environment for staff and guests alike.

Duties

Assist the head chef in planning and developing menus that align with the restaurant’s concept and customer preferences.
Supervise and coordinate the activities of kitchen staff, including cooks and food preparation assistants, ensuring efficient workflow.
Oversee food production, ensuring dishes are prepared to the highest standards of quality, presentation, and safety.
Manage daily kitchen operations, including inventory control, ordering supplies, and maintaining cleanliness in accordance with food safety regulations.
Lead by example in food preparation and cooking techniques to uphold the restaurant’s reputation for excellence.
Ensure compliance with health and safety standards at all times, including proper handling of ingredients and equipment.
Support staff training programmes to develop skills and maintain high levels of team performance.
Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery and guest satisfaction.

Experience

Proven supervisory experience within a busy kitchen environment, ideally within a restaurant or hospitality setting.
Extensive background in food production, cooking, and food safety practices.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a diverse team effectively.
Demonstrable experience in food preparation, culinary techniques, and menu development.
Familiarity with restaurant operations, serving procedures, and customer service standards.
Previous experience working under pressure in fast-paced environments is highly desirable.
Knowledge of health regulations and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.
