Full job description

Chef de Partie – New Restaurant Opening

North Kitchen & Bar, Keswick
£30,000 per year, plus tips
Full-time, permanent | 40 hours over five days
Straight shifts, normally 3 pm–11 pm
Closed every Monday and Tuesday
Starting 1 September 2026

North is a new independent restaurant opening in the heart of Keswick.

Our food will be led by the produce, people and landscape of Cumbria, with a modern Italian influence. We’ll serve creative, generous dishes designed for sharing, using excellent local and seasonal ingredients. The restaurant will be relaxed and welcoming, but the cooking will be thoughtful and ambitious, with a genuine connection between the land, the producer and the plate.

We’re now looking for a Chef de Partie to join our opening kitchen team.

This is an opportunity to help establish a completely new restaurant from the beginning. You’ll work directly with our senior chefs in a close, supportive kitchen team where respect, organisation and personal development matter.

The role

As Chef de Partie, you’ll take responsibility for the preparation and operation of your own section.

You’ll be expected to arrive prepared, keep your section organised and well stocked, and deliver consistently during dinner service. You’ll also take responsibility for the food-safety standards, records and cleaning requirements relating to your section.

Your responsibilities will include:

Preparing and setting up your section for dinner service
Running your section confidently during service
Keeping your section clean, organised and properly stocked
Monitoring stock levels and communicating requirements to senior chefs
Maintaining excellent food hygiene, allergen and food-safety standards
Working constructively with the whole kitchen and front-of-house team

We’re looking for someone who:

Is genuinely passionate about cooking and wants to build a career in hospitality
Is interested in local produce, seasonality and the stories behind ingredients
Communicates clearly and treats colleagues with respect
Wants to develop as part of a growing independent business
