Apprentice Hire Coordinator - Customer Service Practitioner Level 2
Full-time, Permanent
We’re an award-winning, Manchester-based, family-owned construction business with a clear purpose at the heart of everything we do: Improving Lives.
At Casey, we don’t just build projects – we create places that help people live, work and thrive. Our work goes beyond the built environment, from supporting local communities to creating opportunities through skills and employment. People always come first, and that includes our team.
If you want to be part of a business where your work has real impact – and where you’re trusted, supported and valued – you’ll feel at home here.
The Opportunity
We’re looking for a friendly, reliable and enthusiastic Apprentice Hire Coordinator to join our Plant Division, while working towards a Level 2 Customer Service Practitioner apprenticeship.
This is a great opportunity for someone starting their career, including someone leaving school or college, who wants to learn in a supportive, busy and practical working environment. You’ll build your confidence while helping site teams, suppliers and colleagues with the hire and purchase of tools, equipment and welfare units, which keeps our sites and teams moving efficiently.
You don’t need previous hire desk, plant or customer service experience. What matters most is that you are willing to learn, comfortable asking questions and interested in developing your communication, customer service and problem-solving skills over time.
This role would suit someone who enjoys helping people, likes being organised and wants to grow into a confident, customer-focused coordinator within the construction and plant environment.
Entry requirements for this role are a minimum of GCSE Maths and English, grades 9-4 (or A*-C).
What you’ll be doing
As an Apprentice Hire Coordinator, you’ll learn how to provide a helpful, high-quality service while supporting the day-to-day coordination of plant, tools, equipment and welfare hire across Casey’s operations. You will not be expected to know everything from day one, as training and support will be provided.
· Helping site teams and colleagues with orders for the hire and purchase of tools, equipment and welfare units.
· Responding to telephone and email enquiries from site teams, suppliers and colleagues in a friendly, clear and professional way.
· Preparing and updating hire documents such as delivery notes, collection notes and hire contracts accurately.
· Learning how to use the INSPHIRE system and other workplace technology to meet customer needs and support the hire process.
· Helping to investigate supplier invoice queries, explain next steps and support accurate invoice processing.
· Building positive working relationships with internal and external customers, including suppliers, site teams and other departments.
· Taking ownership of straightforward enquiries, keeping people updated and raising questions or more complex issues with the team when needed.
· Listening carefully, asking appropriate questions and helping to resolve problems or manage expectations.
· Supporting the team to improve the customer experience while demonstrating Casey’s values in the way you work with others.
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone with a positive attitude and a genuine willingness to learn. This is an apprenticeship, so we are not expecting you to have lots of workplace experience. You’ll be supported by an experienced team while developing your skills through on-the-job learning and your Level 2 Customer Service Practitioner apprenticeship.
You’ll be someone who:
· Is friendly, polite and willing to help colleagues, site teams and suppliers.
· Can stay organised with support and is keen to learn how to prioritise different tasks.
· Listens carefully, takes care with details and wants to get things right first time.
· Has a positive attitude and is comfortable asking questions to understand what someone needs.
· Enjoys being part of a team and providing a helpful service to others.
· Has basic computer skills and is willing to learn systems such as Microsoft Office and INSPHIRE.
· Can remain calm, communicate clearly and ask for help when an enquiry or issue is unclear.
· Is reliable, open to feedback and willing to develop their customer service knowledge and skills.
Most importantly, you’ll be keen to learn, happy to get stuck in and motivated by being part of a team that supports projects, sites and people across the business.
What you’ll gain
This apprenticeship will give you the chance to build a strong foundation in customer service while developing practical experience in a busy hire and plant environment.
You’ll gain experience in:
· Supporting internal and external customers through the hire desk.
· Customer service across telephone, email and day-to-day workplace interactions.
· Listening, questioning and communicating clearly to understand customer needs.
· Using business systems such as INSPHIRE to support customers and process requests.
· Managing expectations, solving straightforward problems and supporting service recovery.
· Building product and service knowledge of plant, tools, equipment and welfare hire.
· Working in line with Casey’s customer service standards, values and purpose of Improving Lives.
What we offer you
· A Level 2 Customer Service Practitioner apprenticeship.
· On-the-job learning with support from an experienced Plant team.
· A salary and benefits package to be confirmed.
· Pension scheme.
· Life assurance / death-in-service benefit.
· Access to our Casey Benefits portal, including discounts on shopping, days out and gym memberships.
· Holiday entitlement, including Christmas shutdown arrangements.
· Wellbeing support, including Employee Assistance Programme and company wellbeing days.
· A supportive, down-to-earth working environment where people matter.
