Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Joiner to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in carpentry and a strong understanding of various construction techniques. This role involves working on diverse projects, including residential, commercial, and industrial sites, ensuring high standards of craftsmanship and safety. The successful applicant will be responsible for creating, installing, and repairing structures with precision and efficiency.

Duties

Constructing and installing wooden frameworks, fixtures, and fittings according to specifications
Using hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment to cut, shape, and assemble materials
Reading technical drawings and blueprints to determine project requirements
Performing repairs and maintenance on existing structures or installations
Assisting with roofing tasks where necessary, including fitting trusses and sheathing
Heavy lifting of materials and components safely to facilitate construction activities
Ensuring all work complies with health and safety regulations at all times
Collaborating with other tradespeople such as masons, roofers, and mechanical specialists to complete projects efficiently

Skills

Proven experience in carpentry or joinery with a strong portfolio of completed projects
Proficiency in using hand tools (saws, chisels, hammers) and power tools (drills, sanders)
Mechanical knowledge related to construction machinery and equipment operation
Ability to interpret technical drawings and blueprints accurately
Experience in welding is advantageous for specialised joinery tasks involving metal components
Knowledge of masonry techniques beneficial for mixed-material projects
Capability in roofing installation or repair is desirable
Physical strength for heavy lifting tasks and working at heights when required
Valid commercial driving licence preferred for transporting materials or equipment
