Job Overview

The Transport and Distribution Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the company's transport and distribution operations. The role ensures the safe, efficient, and cost-effective movement of goods while maintaining compliance with UK transport regulations and delivering excellent customer service.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Plan, organise, and manage daily transport and distribution activities.
Coordinate vehicle schedules, delivery routes, and driver assignments.
Monitor fleet utilisation and ensure vehicles are maintained and roadworthy.
Ensure compliance with UK transport legislation, health and safety requirements, and company policies.
Supervise transport staff, drivers, and operational teams.
Monitor delivery performance and resolve operational issues promptly.
Manage transport budgets and identify opportunities to reduce operating costs.
Maintain accurate transport records, reports, and documentation.
Liaise with customers, suppliers, and third-party logistics providers.
Investigate service issues, accidents, or delays and implement corrective actions.
Monitor fuel consumption, vehicle efficiency, and fleet performance.
Develop and improve transport procedures to increase operational efficiency.
Ensure customer deliveries are completed on time and to the required standards.
Support recruitment, training, and performance management of transport staff.

Requirements

Previous experience in transport, logistics, or distribution management.
Strong knowledge of UK transport regulations and compliance requirements.
Excellent organisational and planning skills.
Strong leadership and team management abilities.
Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and transport management systems.
Good understanding of health and safety legislation.
Full UK driving licence (preferred).

Pay: £33,400.00 per year
