Full job description

Looking for a Full Time senior care assistant. Successful applicant must have previous experience in the same, or similar role. They must also have a level 3 NVQ.

45 bed residential care home, specialising in dementia.

Job Summary

To work In accordance with National Care Standards and current Company policies the staff member will Endeavour:-

· To contribute and participate in providing quality care and life experiences based upon the six basic values of privacy, dignity, independence, choice, rights and fulfilment.

· To help provide a therapeutic structured and relaxed environment in which residents can develop and enjoy their lives.

· To assist in the overall daily routines of the home, and with any activities arranged as required.

· To assist management in the implementation of procedures and policies within the home.

· To undertake any training requirements as necessary for the role of the senior care assistance, as required by legislations pertaining to residential care homes, and any other training required for the specific needs of the residents at Valley Lodge care home.

· Supervise care assistance and act as mentor when required

· To attend further training applicable to your role.

· To make sure that all staff works to rota’s, routines and schedules that are put in place.

· To meet the medical requirements of the client group. To call GPs and District Nurses as required ensuring that all necessary documentation following the visits are updated and recorded. Accompany Doctors Etc, where appropriate, to see residents in private.

· To obtain, administer and record prescribed medication.

· To ensure all stocks and supplies are ordered and checked in.

· To ensure that the home maintains a healthy and safe environment, reporting any concerns to the Homes Manager.

· To be aware of Health & Safety Regulations.

· To carry out Weekly testing of fire break points and monthly emergency lighting test as legally required.

· Assist with inspections both with Social Services, CQC and with environmental officers.

· Liaise with clients and their relatives, ensuring good relationships are maintained.

· Answering the telephone and dealing with matters arising.

· Maintain stock rotation.

· To maintain the smooth running of the Home when management is not available.

· To work extra hours when needed, to include weekends, maintaining continuity of care.

· To be on call as part of a monthly ratio to include one night over the weekend, and to remain on call during Management absence, i.e. Holiday or sickness.

· To deal with staff issues during management absence, i.e. Holidays or sickness.

· To deal with residents pocket money during manager’s absences.

· At all times maintaining the principals of the home and its statement of purpose ethos.

Ensure that the Home fully complies with the Care Standards act and the minimum standards thereof issued, while fully liaising with CQC regulatory body where and when required.
