Baker – Bread, Pastries & Viennoiserie

Location: Bakesmiths Coffee Shop
Job Type: Full-time / Part-time
Salary: Competitive, based on experience

About Us

At Bakesmiths, we're passionate about serving exceptional coffee alongside freshly baked breads and pastries made from scratch. We're looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Baker to join our team and help create high-quality products that our customers will love.

The Role

As our Baker, you'll be responsible for producing a range of artisan breads, croissants, viennoiserie, and other sweet and savoury pastries. You'll take pride in consistency, quality, and presentation while maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient bakery.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare, mix, shape, proof, and bake a variety of artisan breads.
Produce laminated pastries, including croissants and pain au chocolat.
Create a selection of cakes, pastries, and seasonal baked goods.
Ensure all products meet our quality and presentation standards.
Monitor stock levels and assist with ingredient ordering.
Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety.
Work efficiently to meet daily production schedules.
Contribute new ideas for seasonal specials and menu development.

About You

We're looking for someone who has:

Previous experience as a professional baker or pastry baker.
Strong knowledge of bread making, fermentation, and dough handling.
Experience producing laminated doughs and viennoiserie.
General pastry skills and attention to detail.
The ability to work independently and manage early morning starts.
A positive attitude and strong work ethic.
Excellent organisation and time management skills.
A passion for producing outstanding baked goods.

Desirable

Experience in an artisan bakery or speciality coffee shop.
Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
Creativity and enthusiasm for developing new bakery products.
