Full job description

The Role

We are now seeking a proactive, organised and community-minded person to join our team as Project & Events Officer. The Project & Events Officer will coordinate and deliver NCCP’s projects and community events, ensuring they run smoothly, safely and inclusively. This role combines hands-on project delivery with coordination, administration, volunteer support and community engagement. You will work closely with the Charity Chair and Board of Trustees and will be trusted to work independently in a small organisation. Some evening and weekend work will be required to support community events across the city.

Key Responsibilities

Project Coordination

Support the planning, delivery and evaluation of NCCP’s core programmes
Maintain project documentation, including timelines, risk assessments and evaluation reports
Liaise with partners, suppliers, schools and community groups

Event Planning & Delivery

Lead on organising community events, including Easter, Summer, Halloween and Christmas activities, community fun days and celebrations
Manage event logistics including venues, equipment, catering, suppliers, ticketing and volunteer rotas
Ensure all events meet safeguarding, health & safety and accessibility requirements
Attend events (unless agreed otherwise) to oversee set-up, delivery and pack-down

Funding Support

Collect feedback, data and case studies for reporting to funders
Support the preparation of funding bids and grant submissions

Volunteer & Community Engagement

Recruit, train, brief and support volunteers
Build positive relationships with families, residents and local organisations

Administration & Communications

Maintain accurate records, databases and project files
Prepare monitoring and reporting information for funders and trustees
Contribute to social media updates, newsletters and promotional materials

Person Specification

Essential

Strong organisational and time-management skills
Experience in project coordination, events or community-based work
Confident communicator able to build trust with a wide range of people
Ability to work independently and take initiative
Practical problem-solver with a calm, can-do attitude
Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends
Commitment to safeguarding, equality and inclusive practice

Desirable

Experience working in a charity or community organisation
Knowledge of North Cambridge communities
Experience writing risk assessments or managing volunteers
Basic design or social media skills
