Full job description

Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Cook/Chef to join our culinary team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of dishes, ensuring high standards of food quality and safety. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work within hospitality but without the evening or Sunday work!

3 days per week, approx 8am-4pm this is a great opportunity within a reputable and popular Downpatrick cafe!

The ideal applicant will have a strong background in food preparation, excellent cooking skills, and experience working in a busy kitchen setting.

Duties

Prepare and cook a diverse range of dishes according to recipes and presentation standards
Assist with meal planning and ingredient sourcing to ensure freshness and quality
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area in compliance with food safety regulations
Monitor food stock levels and assist with inventory management
Ensure all food is prepared in a timely manner to meet service demands
Follow health and safety procedures diligently, including proper handling of food and equipment
Serve meals efficiently during busy periods, providing excellent customer service when required
Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations and high-quality output

Requirements

Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or as a chef within a professional kitchen environment
Strong knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
Experience in meal preparation for various dietary requirements and preferences
Familiarity with restaurant or catering service operations is desirable
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure
Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
Previous experience in serving customers or clients is advantageous
Relevant culinary qualifications or certifications are preferred but not essential

This role is ideal for motivated individuals who are passionate about cooking and eager to develop their culinary career within a supportive team environment.

Pay: £13.50-£15.00 per hour
