Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Early Years Room Leader to oversee and support the development of children within our nursery setting. The ideal candidate will possess strong management and leadership skills, with a passion for working with young children. This role offers an opportunity to lead a small team in the toddler room, implement high-quality childcare practices, and contribute positively to children's early learning experiences. The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment that promotes children's growth and development.

Duties

Lead and supervise the early years team to deliver engaging and age-appropriate activities in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework
Plan, organise, and evaluate daily activities that support children's physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development
Maintain high standards of safety, hygiene, and wellbeing within the nursery environment
Build strong relationships with children, parents, and colleagues through effective communication and teamwork
Monitor individual progress of children and provide feedback to parents during regular meetings
Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and nursery policies
Support staff training and professional development initiatives
Manage administrative tasks such as record keeping, planning documentation, and reporting incidents as necessary
Drive continuous improvement in childcare quality through reflective practice and innovation

Experience

Proven management or leadership experience within a childcare or nursery setting
Extensive working knowledge of early childhood education principles and practices
Prior experience working directly with children in a nursery or similar environment
Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal
Childcare qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Childcare or equivalent are essential
Experience with nursery administration and record keeping is desirable
