Full job description

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Senior Support Worker to join our children’s home team. In this vital role, you will lead and supervise a team of support staff, ensuring that young residents receive exceptional care and support in a safe, nurturing environment. Your leadership will empower your team to deliver personalized care plans, promote positive development, and foster a warm, inclusive community for children and young people. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable children while developing your leadership skills within a supportive organization committed to excellence.

Duties

Supervise and support a team of support workers, ensuring high standards of care and professionalism at all times
Lead the development, implementation, and review of individualized care plans tailored to each child's needs
Promote positive behavior management strategies and ensure consistent application across the team
Oversee daily routines, activities, and therapeutic interventions to support children's emotional and social development
Maintain accurate documentation, including incident reports, care records, and progress notes using IT systems
Foster effective communication with children, families, external professionals, and team members to ensure coordinated care
Ensure compliance with safeguarding policies, health and safety regulations, and quality standards within the home

Skills

Proven experience in senior care or supervisory roles within a care home or children’s residential setting
Strong leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse team of support workers
Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with children, families, colleagues, and external agencies
Knowledge of care planning processes and experience in developing personalized support strategies
Valid driving license with the ability to transport children safely when required
Proficiency in IT systems for record keeping, reporting, and communication purposes
Ability to handle challenging situations with professionalism, patience, and resilience
