At Highborder Lodge, we specialise in care for elderly people often living with physical and/or mental conditions/disabilities, including severe Dementia who have high needs and require assistance with all aspects of their physical and mental well-being.

Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced Cook to work within our lovely Care Home. They will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of dishes, ensuring high standards of food safety and presentation. This role offers an excellent opportunity for those with a background in food preparation and kitchen experience to develop their skills further within a professional setting.

The hours for the role are part time. We require 6.30am to 3pm every other weekend (both Saturday & Sunday), and also to help us cover annual leave.

Responsibilities

Prepare ingredients and cook meals according to specified recipes and standards
Assist in the organisation and maintenance of the kitchen, ensuring cleanliness and hygiene are upheld at all times
Support meal preparation for both individual orders and large-scale events or functions
Ensure all food safety regulations are adhered to, including proper storage and handling of ingredients
Maintain a clean and organised work station
Collaborate with team members to deliver efficient service during busy periods
Assist with inventory management by monitoring stock levels and notifying management of shortages or expiry dates

Skills

Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or culinary roles
Strong understanding of food safety standards and procedures
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced setting
Good communication skills to work collaboratively with team members and management
Knowledge of meal preparation techniques and presentation standards
Previous serving experience is advantageous but not essential; a friendly attitude and customer-focused approach are essential for success in this role.

Pay: From £15.50 per hour
