The Role
We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Wedding and Events Manager to join our prestigious wedding venue in Essex. This is a dynamic, hands-on role suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-end hospitality environment, with a genuine love for the industry and the energy of a busy venue. As the main point of contact for couples from the planning stage right through to their big day, you will be responsible for ensuring every detail is executed flawlessly. You’ll need proven experience managing weddings and events to a high standard, with exceptional organisational skills, strong leadership, creativity and an eye for detail, with dedication to deliver outstanding bespoke events and extemporary customer service. Flexibility is key, as the role requires regular weekend and evening work, particularly during peak season.
As the venue is in a rural location with limited public transport, your own means of transport is essential.

Duties (not limited to):
- Responsibility for the bride and groom from allocation stage through to the wedding day and being their main point of contact throughout the wedding day
- Organisation and planning of the wedding from allocation stage to the wedding day itself as well as completion of pre and post wedding paperwork
- Dealing with amendments to running orders by telephone and email, close and constant liaison with all departments to facilitate accurate communication of all function details,
- Recruitment and management of support staff to ensure the smooth running of the wedding/event day
- To upsell in accordance with the Company’s targets for this role
- Attendance at each wedding as planned
- Responsibility for ensuring wedding set up
- Liaising with Head Chef
- Responsibility for bar, money and tabs,
- Responsibility for arranging, diarising and confirming planning meeting appointments as soon as is deemed necessary after allocation and ensuring relevant paperwork/information forwarded to clients,
- To attend all venue operational meetings as required
- Involvement with ordering/stock taking of front of house equipment
- Ensuring the safety of the building and the people in it with a full awareness of the health and safety procedures and you will operate at all times in accordance with our health and safety policies
What We’re Looking For:
Experience & Knowledge
- Proven experience in wedding and events management or coordination, ideally within a high-end or exclusive-use venue.
- Strong understanding of event planning from initial allocation through to on-the-day delivery.
- Comfortable managing all aspects of event operations, including staff, suppliers, bar management, and client liaison.
- Familiarity with hospitality standards, front-of-house operations, and wedding protocols.
- Confident dealing with high volumes of client communication, changes, and last-minute amendments.

- Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail, who’s able to plan-ahead and think on your feet in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; warm, professional, and client-focused.
- Able to manage time well, multitask under pressure, and maintain composure during busy event operations.
- A natural confident and approachable leader with the ability to motivate and guide a team calmly and effectively, and confident when handling challenging situations or occasional conflict, with the ability to resolve issues professionally and diplomatically, whether with guests or team members.
- Creative flair with the ability to personalise and enhance each couple’s experience.
- A true team player with a positive approach to collaboration, you’ll also be confident working independently and taking initiative when required. With a proactive, hands-on attitude, you're always ready to step in and support the wider team wherever needed.
- Adaptable and calm under pressure with strong problem-solving abilities.
- IT savvy, role will also use a laptop, must be confident using various computer software, including booking or event systems, Microsoft software
- Numerate and good standard of both written and spoken English is must.
- Willing to complete in person 3-day First Aid Training Course (renewable every 3 years).

Practical Requirements
- Own transport or reliable independent means of reaching the rural venue location.
- Willingness to attend weddings in person and oversee the day from start to finish.
- Being able to work weekends and evenings and unsociable hours during Weddings/Events as well as a mix of normal 9-5 office days is an essential part of this role.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of health, safety, and professionalism.
Hours: Full time hours (40hrs a week) from Monday to Sunday, according to the rota, which will include the need to work unsocial hours and weekends.
Additional Pay - Bonus Scheme
The successful candidate will be an individual who’s flexible and available to work across a mix of weekdays, weekends, daytime, and evening shifts, as flexibility is paramount for this role, particularly during our peak wedding season which runs April to Sept/October, when events are especially more frequently on weekends. While you won’t always be scheduled to work every weekend or both days each weekend, rotas will reflect the needs of our events bookings and are normally planned a month in advance where possible. During our quieter months October/November to March, weekend shifts are generally less frequent, offering a more balanced schedule.
