About Strachan & Kemp Facilities Services

Strachan & Kemp Facilities Services is part of SK Group, a family-owned facilities management and specialist maintenance business delivering planned, reactive and project works across Scotland and the UK.

We provide a comprehensive range of hard and soft facilities management services to commercial, industrial, retail, healthcare, education and public sector clients. Our teams operate 24/7, delivering high-quality workmanship, exceptional customer service and rapid response solutions for our clients.

Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Joiner to join our expanding technical services team.

Job Purpose

The Joiner will be responsible for carrying out a wide range of joinery, maintenance, repair and refurbishment works across client sites. The role involves both planned and reactive works, ensuring all tasks are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

The successful candidate will represent the company professionally while delivering excellent customer service and maintaining strong client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out first and second fix joinery works.
Install, repair and maintain doors, frames, ironmongery and locks.
Undertake fire door inspections, repairs and installations.
Carry out partitioning, ceiling and wall repairs.
Install flooring, skirting, architraves and other finishing works.
Complete kitchen, washroom and office refurbishment works.
Perform reactive maintenance and emergency repairs.
Carry out general building fabric maintenance as required.
Read and interpret drawings, specifications and work instructions.
Complete jobs in accordance with company quality standards.
Ensure all works comply with health and safety legislation.
Complete job sheets, reports and photographs using company systems.
Liaise professionally with clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
Identify additional works opportunities and report them to management.
Assist other trades and project teams when required.
Participate in the company on-call rota if required.

Essential Requirements

SVQ Level 3, NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds qualification in Carpentry & Joinery.
Proven experience in commercial maintenance and refurbishment environments.
Full UK Driving Licence.
Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively.
Good communication and customer service skills.
Strong problem-solving abilities.
Competent in completing electronic job reports and paperwork.
Flexible approach to working hours and travel.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

Fire Door Inspection Qualification.
FIRAS or equivalent fire door experience.
PASMA Certification.
IPAF Certification.
Asbestos Awareness.
Manual Handling.
Working at Height Training.
First Aid at Work.
Facilities Management or Multi-Trade Maintenance experience.
Experience working within live commercial environments.
