Description:

Oakwoods Care Home is a nursing care home committed to providing exceptional care for our 43 residents, and is seeking a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to supporting the smooth running of our kitchen and the delivery of high-quality food to our residents.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist the cook/chef in preparing and serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner for residents, ensuring dietary requirements are met.
Help with basic food preparation such as washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients.
Wash up, clean, and maintain kitchen equipment, crockery, and utensils to a high standard.
Keep all kitchen and food storage areas clean, tidy, and compliant with food hygiene regulations.
Assist with receiving, checking, and storing produce and kitchen supplies, rotating stock as needed.
Support the serving and timely delivery of meals to residents in an organised manner.
Help gather feedback from residents on the food and menu, passing it on to the cook/chef.
Follow instructions from the cook/chef to ensure the kitchen runs efficiently.

Qualifications:

Previous experience in a kitchen or catering setting is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided.
A basic understanding of food hygiene and safety (or willingness to obtain a Food Hygiene certificate).
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Good organisational skills and the ability to follow instructions.
Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact with residents and staff.
Dedication to maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen.
